Amore Torta was reborn from a Shelby Township pasticceria that had been kneading bread for a generation. The cases still hold cannoli and warm Calabrese — but in the middle of the room, every morning, a Japanese soufflé cheesecake rises in a water bath.
Italian warmth. Japanese restraint. A single bakery in the suburbs of Detroit making both things look like they were always meant to share a case.
